Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science is the official publication of Society of Rangeland and Forage Science. The Journal is dedicated to publishing quality original material that advances rangeland management and forage crops production. 

Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science is a peer-reviewed, international, online journal covering all aspects of range, forage crops and turfgrass management, including the ecophysiology and biogeochemistry of rangelands and pastures, terrestrial plant-herbivore interactions, rangeland assessment and monitoring, effects of climate change on rangelands and forage crops, rangeland rehabilitation, rangeland improvement strategies, conservation and biodiversity goals. In addition, our journal also accepts studies on the importance of grain feed, roughage, fodder and forages in animal nutrition. The journal serves the professions related to the management of crops, forages and grazinglands, and turfgrass by publishing research, briefs, reviews, perspectives, and diagnostic and management guides that are beneficial to researchers, practitioners, educators, and industry representatives.

The main document must be uploaded as an editable Word document (.doc, .docx) DIN-A4 pages, the letter «Times New Roman» size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 cm margins on each side, page and line numbers. All tables, figures, supporting information and bibliographic entries must have a reference in the text. Tables should be included in the main document after the reference list, each on an individual page alongside their legend. A list of figure captions should be included at the end of the main document. Figures should be submitted in TIFF or JPG format and dimensions of figures must be maximum 16 × 20 cm and minimum 8 cm wide.
If any abbreviations are used in a paper, they shall be explained appropriately when they are used in the text for the first time. It is not advisable to use any abbreviations in the paper title or in the abstract. Then use the abbreviation throughout the entire article. The SI international system of measurement units should be used. Genus and species are always italicized. There is no word limit for Orignal Articles which should be using the following general structure:
Manuscript structure: Abstract (300 words maximum); Keywords; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements; References.

Title section: should contain informative title of the manuscript (if possible, abbreviations should be avoided), not exceeding 15 words, first name and surname of the authors, the name of institution, its address, corresponding author’s e-mail address.


Abstract: should state the purpose of the research, the main methods and results and should not exceed 300 words. It should not contain references.


Keywords: maximum 6 words, in alphabetical order, separated by commas. If possible, avoid abbreviations.


Introduction: background and significance of the problem by using the most recent publications should be provided. The aim of the study should be clearly stated at the end of the introduction.


Materials and methods: authors should provide a concise description of experimental site, design, materials and analytical methods and statistical procedures used. This part should be as clear as possible to enable other scientists to repeat the research presented.

Results: The numbers from the tables or figures should not be repeated extensively in the text and long explanations of the tables and figures are not acceptable. The same information given in the table should not be repeated in the figure or vice versa. Relevant statistical information should be provided in tables and figures. Statistical significance should be clearly indicated where applicable.


Discussion: interpretation of data, related to previous research, should be presented. Results and discussion sections may be combined.


Conclusion: main significant results of the study should be presented in a clear and concise way and should be numbered.


Acknowledgements (optional): acknowledgements of funds, grants, etc. may be placed.


References: The list should include more recent items – peer-reviewed scientific articles, scientific books and monographs and other scientific publications, except for textbooks, manuals or training materials. References to abstracts or proceedings are acceptable only in exceptional cases.
All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references. In the text, references should be cited by author and year of publication, for example: Sürmen (2017), Yilmaz and Yildirim (2015). If reference is made in the text to a publication written by more than two authors the name of the first author should be used followed by “et al.” (Board et al., 2016). References cited together in the text should be arranged chronologically.
The list of references should be arranged alphabetically by authors’ names, and chronologically per author. Publications by the same author(s) in the same year should be listed as 2019a, 2019b, etc. All authors of each publication should be included into the reference list. Titles of scientific journals, conference proceedings etc. should not be abbreviated.


APA 6 style should be adopted for citation notation. (from 2023)


The publication process of the Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science takes place within the framework of ethical principles. The procedures in the process support the quality of the studies. For this reason, it is of great importance that all stakeholders involved in the process comply with ethical standards.

Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science expects its readers, authors, reviewers, and editors to take ethical responsibility.
The ethical codes expected from the studies and publication processes of the Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science are stated below in the light of the guidelines and policies prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics-COPE.(For detailed information COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors).

Ethic principles for authors


The works must be original, not published elsewhere and in accordance with scientific research and publication ethics.
Authors should confirm that they have read and understood the author's instructions.
All authors are expected to contribute to the study.
All data in the article should be real and original.
Whether or not the article requires ethical committee approval is the responsibility of the authors. Ethics committee approval should be stated at the end of the article with the material and method.

Ethic principles for referees

Comments should be made objectively.
Personal criticism of the author is not appropriate.
Referees should express their views openly, with supportive discussions and references when necessary. However, it should not be defamatory or defamatory.
Referees must declare competing interests.
Referees should refuse to review articles with conflicts of interest resulting from:
competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or links or affiliated organizations with authors, companies.

Referees should respect the confidentiality of the materials provided to them and should not discuss unpublished articles with their colleagues or use the information in their own work.

If a referee wants to send a review request to a colleague, he / she must obtain the editor's permission in advance.

Referees must be impartial.

Ethic principles for Editors

Writing independence should be ensured. Editorial decisions should be based on the quality of the work and the appropriate referee evaluation rather than on political, financial or personal effects.
Editors are obliged to guide the referees for any information. This information sharing should be based on COPE principles.
Editors should adopt an appropriate review process for their journals, workspaces, and resources.
Editors should not be refused to publish in their own journals, but should not take advantage of their positions. Proceed according to the journal procedure.
The principle of editorial independence should always be adopted.

Publication Policy

Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science adopted the policy of providing open access with the publication.
Open access will lead to beneficial outcomes for humanity by increasing the global exchange of information.

There is no article processing and article submission charge from submitted articles for publication in Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science.


Policy to Plagiarism

The authors have to check the articles against the plagiarism with the "iThenticate Plagiarism Detection" software before the manuscript submit. Except for the references section, the similarity index in the search will have to be below 20%. It is mandatory that the iThenticate software be provided in the report when the article is being recorded on the manuscript submit. The journal routinely screen article submissions for plagiarism.


No article processing charge is requested for the articles sent to the Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science.
